And now, thanks to Jonny Wilson a.k.a. Eclectic Method, the thump was turned into a dance remix — even more attention for McConaughey after winning Best Actor Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club while Leonardo DiCaprio, yet again, went home empty handed. Interestingly, this was a spontaneous idea suggested by DiCaprio and was not part of the original script. According to McConaughey:

It’s something I do from time to time to relax myself before a scene, or to get my voice lower, and I’ll do it to whatever the rhythm of the character in the scene. I was doing it before takes, and Leonardo [DiCaprio] had the idea of ‘Why don’t you put that in the scene?’ so I did.
