IblankSA is a local South African non-profit initiative started up by Adam Lee Casey, who in addition to working as an architect and lecturer is a passionate surfer, skater and traveller. Adam, originally from New York but now living in Cape Town, has spent the past two months setting up a charity project with designed tees that each have a South African charity organization behind it. “IblankSA just happened while sketching one day. After having lived in this amazing country for 3 years I realized that I wanted to give something back. I hope for the project to engage people and create awareness of our culture and subculture within cities, coastlines, and rural areas.”

The tees are locally produced and come in a range of 8 different symbols. LaurenceAirline’s debut collection brings hope to Ivory Coast

In the aftermath of the Ivory Coast humanitarian and political crisis, there is a fashion label bringing hope to the country. The concept behind LaurenceAirline is based on how fashion and ethnic cultures can successfully collaborate to create possibilities for the future.

The debut collection focuses on shirting and underwear that mixes chambray, poplin and printed waxed cottons in a strange and beautiful way. Along with strong graphic elements the shirts’ soft and precise cuts make for a new kind of dynamism, fitting a modern tribal pop man. Laurence’s shirts tell the story of a stylish journey, the underpants being the intimate version of this same story.

In addition to fashion, the clothing line, based in Abijan, Ivory Coast, has philanthropic goodwill on their agenda. ‘In the aftermath of the Ivory Coast humanitarian and political crisis, there is a fashion label bringing hope to the country.’ All the looks in the collection bear names like Heart, Charity, Hope and the locally-based garment production generates employment opportunities in Abijan. In a country where education is still unaffordable for most, LaurenceAirline’s goal is to make learning a stimulating and creative trade possible.

LaurenceAirline has put out this video to accompany their lookbook. The two models in this clip wear the spring collection like a second skin as they zip around on scooters and frolic on their own personal beach.
