DREAM: Joburg 2011 is an initiative adopted by Dion Chang (Flux) as the South African version of The Dreamers Project, one which aims to send out a message of unity amongst artists, using different art forms and visiting countries around the world. This one is a photography project, based in Johannesburg, taking place this Saturday 16 April at the Orlando Towers in Soweto. All artists, dreamers and children of Johannesburg are invited to participate.

 

If you would like to join in with this inspired art project, here are all the details:

 

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – New York-based public art organization Trust Art is inviting all who consider themselves “DREAMERS” to participate in a historic group photo shoot on Saturday, April 16 at 12pm at Orlando Towers in Soweto, Johannesburg.

Participants of all ages and races are encouraged to come be part of this beautiful, global experience that celebrates a simple message: WE DREAM.

The photograph will be shot by New York photographer Justin Tellian, in collaboration with several South African partners, including AAW! Art Project Management, South Africa’s public arts action agency; Story Scarves, a Soweto-based nonprofit for young women and global goodwill; Dream Station, a South African branding agency; and Flux Trends’ Dion Chang.

The goal in Johannesburg is to gather a few hundred people for the portrait, making it the largest gathering of dreamers in any city yet.

Instructions: Come wearing white; bring your friends, dreams, and smiles.

Participants should arrive at 12:00 dressed in white, for the shoot at 13:00. Trust Art and its partners are seeking donations of white fabric, volunteer costume designers and stylists, and transportation assistance.
