‘el B': new architecture from Spain

Spain – a country that already hosts a number of famous buildings, like the Guggenheim in Central Bilbao on the waterfront and The City of Art and Sciences in Valencia, now has a new addition to her diverse architecture oeuvre. The recently completed auditorium and performing centre, known as the ‘el B’ , is a project run by Madrid-based firm Selgascano.

The project has made waves with the controversial ‘el B’ building running a kilometre along the Alfonso XII dock in Cartagena, Spain. There is a 20-meter space between the building and water, serving as a promenade creating a waterfront-like feel. The building is at the pinnacle of contemporary architecture with its clear and definite geometric design. The use of aluminium and plastic as materials gave the architects the ability to play with colour and gives the ‘el B’ a sense of transparency and clarity.
