For Spring/Summer 2015, the PUMA SELECT Tennis collection sees the Boris Becker OG make a welcome return amongst a full collection of apparel and accessories. The classic Becker OG has been re-imagined for this season and celebrates PUMA’s rich Tennis heritage.

It all started back in the ’60s, when PUMA’s German design and development ‘engineers’ really began to perfect sport shoemaking. They considered the human factors that other companies weren’t even thinking of yet. PUMA’s heightened awareness of ergonomics helped it develop a new, innovative approach to footwear. These moulded PU shoes were made in Europe, with a super high quality that was tough to replicate, sculpting to the foot to enable greater support and comfort.

This design helped top PUMA athletes and ambassadors like Boris Becker play longer without fatigue. They became united with their PUMA shoes. This ‘cradling of the foot’ was a game changer. When coupled with that underdog style and tube socks, a unique sporting aesthetic was born; the man became bigger than the game itself. This execution is finished in a rich leather with an eye-catching emboss effect.

The PUMA SELECT Tennis collection for S/S15 is modelled by Boris Becker’s son, Noah, quietly retaining the authentic roots to the PUMA Archive while becoming relevant to the fashion and streetwear consumer. The collection re-invigorates PUMA’s historic Tennis category that is now firmly positioned within lifestyle. He walks the tennis court with his dad and strolls through the streets of London looking fresh as funk. Browsing with hungry eyes through a record store, Noah Becker aims to form his own legacy – in music. First Puma Select Store Opens in SA

On 6 March 2014 PUMA opened its first PUMA SELECT pop-up store at 137 Bree Street, Cape Town. Igniting a creative spark for World Design Capital 2014, the spot was designed by 3D industrial designer Ben Wilson (Wilson Brothers) in collaboration with Adam Brinkworth of interior and architectural design agency Brinkworth. It will be open for a year and showcase PUMA‘s premium products, but what’s more, the shop will feature collaborations with top designers, creatives and influencers.
