PARKLIFE Music Festival

The inaugural PARKLIFE event will see international festival favourite, acoustic folk star Xavier Rudd as headliner and also features a star studded local support line-up including Farryl Purkiss and Jeremy Loops among others.

Xavier Rudd, well known on the live music festival circuit throughout Australia, North America and Europe now brings his special blend of acoustic folk to South Africa for two exclusive shows. A unique, one-man band, Xavier plays surrounded by instruments in a complicated array. Typically, he has three didgeridoos placed in front of him on a stand, a guitar on his lap, a stompbox by his habitually bare feet, and an assortment of drums, harmonicas and bells. Many of Rudd’s songs incorporate socially conscious themes, such as spirituality, humanity, environmentalism and the rights of Aboriginal peoples. Rudd has become a popular feature at music festivals worldwide including the Bonnaroo Music Festival, Summer Sonic and Lowlands among others and has toured with Jack Johnson, Dave Matthews, Ben Harper and Rodrigo y Gabriela.

PARKLIFE JOZI takes place on Thursday 21 March (the Human Rights Day public holiday) at the Marks Park Sports Club, Orange Road, Johannesburg. Gates open at 11h00. The music kicks off at 12h00 and ends at 19h00. Gates to the venue close at 20h00.
