Step into the enchanted world of Marshmallow Laser Feast. The creative studio is a collaborative effort that blurs the boundaries between art and technology. While technology is often viewed as a cold, distant industrial process, Marshmallow Laser Feat redefines this perception with playful, interactive installations that shed new light on sound, space, and movement — literally. The innovative visual artists create light beam music, laser forests, and light paintings with the the use of laser lights and their own personally developed futuristic tech. With a fully decked arsenal of infinite imagination and boundless technical knowledge, Marshmallow Laser Feast is making fantastical magic a real experience. Produced by The Creators Project, this video clip reveals exactly how they do it. (Length 07:07)

There’s an emotional human side to the tech that we try and bring out in each project

Drones have been the centre of controversy sparking global debate and opposition, but Marshmallow Laser Feast have found a new way to use these flying observers. In an attempt to diminish the barrier between audiences and performers, the drones are attached with light beams to form ‘light beam organs’ as they move to music and cast spotlight glows over the audience, allowing onlookers to interact with the installation piece in real-time experiences. In another demonstration of inspired vision, the creatives produce a ‘music laser forest’ from green light lasers attached to tall rods. With an ethereal green hue, the animators successfully created a forest space, where people can run through light-trees. Although their works pitch them as light artists, Marshmallow Laser Feast began as a collaborative film-making project. They still revolve their art around film production, and brand magnates have taken note of their otherworldly clips.

We try to re-create the sensation of a magical experience for adults

In 2012 supercar dynamo McLaren commissioned Marshmallow Laser Feast with the task of producing an attention capturing commercial for the McLaren P1. Using stop-motion and long exposure photography, the visionary team joined forces with James Medcraft to create a light painting animation that pitted McLaren against the concept of aerodynamics. The visual was an extraordinary laser display that moved fluidly in multi-coloured ripples to re-create the shape and contours of the car itself.

The playfulness is a very important part of it so you’re not just there robotically trying to interact with the system, but it actually feels somehow natural

With an exceptional map of design work pinned to their names, Mashmallow Laser Feast is casting the motion picture industry in a graphic illumination of the future.
